After their last assignments, top-seed Houston Rockets and second-seed Golden State Warriors will look to clinch their respective playoff spots in a rather bizarre way today as they hope that either the Los Angeles Clippers and the Oklahoma City Thunder dropped their games today.

Both the Rockets and Warriors suffered agonizing losses yesterday with the former losing to league-leaders Toronto Raptors 108-105 and the latter crumbling down against the Portland Trail Blazers in blowout fashion 125-108.

However, those setbacks did little to hurt their playoff chances as the Rockets still lead the Western Conference with 51-14 (win-loss) card, just a half-game ahead of the Warriors which currently owns the second spot with a 51-15 mark.

As per Tim Bontemps of The Washington Post, both squads can make the playoffs today despite those losses.

“The Rockets and Warriors both clinch a playoff spot if either the Clippers or Thunder lose today, according to the NBA”

The Clippers and the Thunder are in action today with the former taking on the Orlando Magic while the latter battles the San Antonio Spurs.

To give a better preview of the games, both the Thunder and the Spurs have split their matches this season with either team winning by just three points while the Clippers demolished the Magic 106-95 in their lone encounter this year.
