The mean streets of Twitter have absolutely gone all-in with their support of the “defund the police” campaign. So much so, that basketball fans on Twitter have decided to rework several NBA team logos to display the “defund the police” slogan.

In line with the protests against racial injustice and police brutality, a movement has arisen to cut down on the funding or the budget of police forces, and instead, use them for housing, healthcare, and/or other social programs.

Below are some of the best NBA team logo renditions we were able to scour across social media:

Some folks even went old school and decided to also take on some of the retro logos of certain teams, such as the defending champs, the Toronto Raptors.

Talking about old school, how about the now defunct Seattle SuperSonics?

It's all well and fun, and it's pretty awesome to see how creative these artists can get to build on this campaign. Make no mistake about it, however — the message here is extremely serious.

The death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police on May 25th is just one of many instances wherein certain cops abuse their authority, to say the least. Louiseville native Breonna Taylor, who herself was shot and killed by the police during a drug raid, is also another victim of alleged racial discrimination by the police. As such, there is a considerable sector of society (including the NBA) that is calling for radical changes within the police force, and one of their proposals is to significantly cut down on their funding.
