Zach Randolph's career trajectory maybe plummeting as the Sacramento Kings opted to sit him out for much of the 2018-19 season in favor of a youth movement and later having his expiring contract shipped to the Dallas Mavericks for Harrison Barnes and promptly being waived.

With just a few weeks to go before training camp starts, the 38-year-old has yet to garner any interest in the free-agent market prompting many to speculate that the Memphis Grizzlies' former face is headed either overseas or perhaps even retirement due to his age. But in an interview with David Cobb of the Memphis Commercial Appeal, he remains adamant that the latter option, while something he has considered, is premature to declare at this point.

“I've been working on some things, just really trying to see what I want to do with the next part of my life. I've been thinking about hanging it up and seeing what's going on and what I want to do in the next phase of my life. I ain't retired yet.”

The 6-foot-9 power forward may have a convincing argument to stay in shape and wait for offers. Just a year before being grounded by the Kings, he was putting up decent averages of 14.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, at a 47-percent clip in 59 games. This also includes a decent 34.7-percent from the outside with a large sample size, proving that his once physical presence is still modern NBA game-friendly. There are definite concerns about Randolph on the other end however, as his rapidly deteriorating quickness and inability to protect the rim will continue to be an impediment even more today.

Still, you never know if a team needing some veteran presence could come calling for a flawed but dependable stretch-four.
