A new NBA season is almost upon us, and it’s time to take a look at some futures bets that may prove profitable for the 2021-22 season. Let’s continue our NBA odds series and make a prediction or pick for five different futures bets on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Here’s five solid futures bets for the 2021-22 NBA season.

Evan Mobley +950 to win NBA Rookie of the Year

Mobley might be the most talented big in some time. He will have to compete with Jarrett Allen for rebounds, but Mobley could still be poised to post a double-double on decent efficiency in his rookie season. If he does, he will be in the mix for Rookie of the Year for sure. Guys like Cade Cunningham and Jalen Green will get more shots (and the odds reflect that), but Mobley has a chance to prove he’s the best player in the class by simply going out and being himself. If he can help the Cleveland Cavaliers overachieve this season, he will be a sleeper to take home NBA Rookie of the Year.

Stephen Curry +800 to win NBA MVP

The Golden State Warriors have put the band back together. Andre Iguodala is back in the fold, and Klay Thompson shouldn’t be out too much longer. Curry had one of the most ridiculous shooting seasons of all-time again in 2020-21, and could have easily been more in the MVP mix (he finished third behind winner Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid) if the Warriors would have been able to win a few more games and get into the postseason.

His historic campaign carried a lacking Golden State roster to the play-in game, where they would lose to the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies, ultimately missing the playoffs. If the Warriors can rekindle the magical flame of years past with Curry, Iguodala, Thompson and Draymond Green, Curry might be able to take home another MVP trophy. While he’s not the favorite out of the gates, +800 is good value for the two-time MVP.

Minnesota Timberwolves over 33.5 wins (-140)

The Timberwolves could make a bit of noise towards the bottom of the Western Conference this season. They still have Karl-Anthony Towns, who has the potential to be an All-NBA big. Anthony Edwards was a beast down the stretch last season, and Minnesota was a different team after making the coaching change to Chris Finch mid-season in 2020-21. The Wolves are also reportedly in the mix on the Ben Simmons sweepstakes, which could obviously be a huge swing towards them hitting the over on their win total.

Milwaukee Bucks +650 to win NBA Championship

RECOMMENDED (Article Continues Below)

The Bucks 2021 championship may be a fluke in the eyes of some people, but there is no reason it can’t happen again this season. Yes, the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets are loaded (even without Kyrie Irving), but that was the case last season as well. Aging superstars like LeBron James and Kevin Durant may be more likely to break down physically as the NBA returns to an 82-game schedule. Giannis Antetokounmpo will look to defend his title, and with just a little bit of luck he might be able to do so. For the value, the Bucks at +800 might be the best pick on the entire board.

Phoenix Suns over 50.5 wins (-122)

The Suns won more than 50 games last season in a 72-game schedule. Some regression may be natural, as Phoenix had an incredible record in close games last season. However, Chris Paul and Devin Booker created a chemistry and culture of winning basketball in Phoenix, and it is difficult to envision them not exceeding 50 wins in 2021-22 with an 82-game calendar. Paul has elevated the ceiling of his team at every spot across his illustrious career, so hitting the over on wins with the Suns again this season isn’t a stretch any way you slice it.
