Why The Bulls Could Cover The Spread

The Chicago Bulls have been one of the best teams in basketball. They have played against and beaten some of the top teams in the NBA. They are definitely one of the teams looking to make a run this year in the playoffs. The Bulls have managed to win their last four games, with their most recent victory coming against the Nuggets by 12. Chicago should be able to carry that momentum into this Eastern Conference battle. Wednesday could very well be another impressive performance from the Bulls.

Leading the way for Chicago is Zach LaVine. LaVine has been with the Bulls for some time and has developed into an all-around star. In their win over the Nuggets, LaVine had 32 points and 8 assists. He has the ability to take over games and could easily do so on Wednesday. With absences affecting this team, especially with DeMar DeRozan out, the Bulls will lean on LaVine even more than usual. However, the explosive guard should be more than up for the task.

Another big part of this team is Nikola Vucevic. Vucevic had to miss some of the season due to injuries, but has since returned and made an immediate impact. In their win against Denver, the big man had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Vucevic is a walking double-double and adds a big presence down low for Chicago. When he is on the court he balances out this team extremely well and forces opponents to shift. If Vucevic can continue his production then the Bulls should dominate this game and extend their win streak to five.

Why The Cavaliers Could Cover The Spread

The Cleveland Cavaliers have actually been having a solid season. Heading into this year most people had the Cavs pegged as a rebuilding team, yet Cleveland has shown that they can be competitive. The Cavs are coming off a disappointing 8 point loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. They will be looking to bounce back on Wednesday as they face off against a tough Bulls team. In order for Cleveland to win this game everyone on the team will need to step up. If the Cavs come into this game ready then they could walk away with a win.

RECOMMENDED (Article Continues Below)

Leading the way for Cleveland is Jarrett Allen. Allen has emerged as one of the best big men in the league. Against Milwaukee he managed to score 25 points and grab nine rebounds. Allen stretches the floor for the Cavs and helps set up the rest of his teammates. He is having, by far, the best season of his career. Allen is averaging over 17 points and 11 rebounds a game. His productivity is ridiculous, as he shoots over 70% from the field. Allen will be crucial in this match up and the Cavs will need their star big man to have a big night on Wednesday.

Another bright spot on this Cavs team Lauri Markkanen. Markkanen was actually a member of the Bulls for the first four years of his career, but was added to the Cavs roster this past offseason. That addition seems to be paying off for Cleveland, as Markkanen has been having a very solid season. In their loss to the Bucks, Markkanen had 20 points and 7 rebounds. While he may not be the focal point of this Cleveland team he is an important part of the squad. What makes the Cavs competitive is their balance and depth, and no player represents that better than Lauri Markkanen.

Final Bulls-Cavaliers Prediction & Pick

This is actually a pretty tough decision. Both of these teams are very good and this will likely be a very competitive game. The difference-maker, however, is absences. Chicago comes into this contest without DeMar DeRozan and other key contributors. Cleveland comes in completely healthy. While the Bulls showed that they can battle and win, even without DeMar, the Cavs are the safer pick here. Pick Cleveland to win and cover and get ready for a really great game.
