The Golden State Warriors will face the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Warriors-Trail Blazers prediction and pick.

A couple of years ago this would have been a must-watch game, but that's not the case anymore. The Warriors have retained their high level of play from those days with a 42-17 record behind the always-stellar play of point guard Stephen Curry. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the Trail Blazers. Portland is 25-34 and heading quickly towards a rebuilding phase. While this game may not have the appeal it once did, it should still be an entertaining one. It's time to cut to the chase and get into the pick.

Why The Warriors Could Cover The Spread

The Warriors are the far more talented team in this game, and that will show on the offensive end. Golden State is one of the best offensive teams in the NBA, as they rank inside the top ten in shooting efficiency, shooting percentage, and effective field goal percentage. It helps that the Trail Blazers are one of the worst defensive teams in the entire league. They rank in the bottom ten in almost every single important defensive statistic while allowing a whopping 112 points per game. Don't be surprised if the Warriors' offense runs wild in this game.

This Portland roster shouldn't be too intimidating to Golden State. The Blazers just lost their best healthy player in Jusuf Nurkic because of a foot injury, leaving the starting lineup in Portland looking more like a B-team. It doesn't help that guard Eric Bledsoe will also miss this game because of injury. Guys like Trendon Watford and CJ Elleby will have to play serious minutes against one of the best teams in basketball.

Why The Trail Blazers Could Cover The Spread

The Trail Blazers were one of the hottest teams in the NBA before the All-Star Break. They notched four consecutive wins, with two of those victories coming against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Memphis Grizzlies. Both of those teams are the same caliber as the Warriors, and Portland actually won. Now all they have to do is cover a 10-point spread. The last three times the Blazers have faced a spread similar to this one, they've pulled off at least a cover. Doing it without Nurkic will be difficult, but there's still a chance.

Portland also has home court advantage in this game, which could prove to be huge. The Trail Blazers have a 16-16 record at home and a 9-18 record on the road, so it's clear that they prefer to defend their home court. The Warriors are similar, as their winning percentage decreases from 81% at home to 59% on the road. The fact that this game will take place in Moda Center will be an important factor.

Final Warriors-Trail Blazers Prediction & Pick

It's nearly impossible to confidently pick Portland here. They are clearly the less talented team, and now they're missing one of their best players in Nurkic. Take Golden State to win and cover here despite the somewhat large spread.
