Carmelo Anthony is still without a team, and with most NBA rosters almost set, it seems highly unlikely that he will find a new home next season. One possible option for the former scoring champion is to play overseas, and according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, he already received an offer from one of the teams in the Chinese Basketball League, but it seems like Melo has no interest in playing there.

Late in the NBA season, a team in the Chinese Basketball Association prepared an offer to Anthony worth just under $1 million for several weeks of play but it never gained traction, a source told The Athletic. If China was truly of interest, Anthony would likely find a significant contract there. But would Anthony want to continue his playing career in China? Multiple agents who do deals in China told The Athletic it is believed to be very unlikely Anthony plays abroad there. For ‘Melo, basketball is a love. He has signed $232 million in NBA contracts. Anthony also has his family in the States and a 12-year-old son, Kiyan Anthony, who he is helping develop into a young basketball player.

A lot of former NBA players have been able to rejuvenate their careers in China, some of them even made it back to the league, but none of them are in the same breath as Melo, who was once recognized as one of the best players in the league during his prime. Even if he hasn't played in an NBA game since November last year, Anthony is still an above-average offensive player, who could create problems for opposing teams' defenses.

But with no NBA team having enough interest to sign him, would he really rather retire than continue to play overseas? Guess we'll find the answer soon enough.
