The Los Angeles Lakers have Austin Reaves to thank for the reason their fans are not in full panic mode after a tight 111-105 victory over the Orlando Magic Sunday night. And it seems they are not taking him for granted, either.

The Lakers and the guard have mutual interest in re-signing this offseason, per the reporting of The Athletic's Jovan Buha. Fans will be pleased to hear that news, but he will not be cheap or lacking suitors from around the league.

Reaves took over against Orlando. He scored LA's last 10 points and had 36 overall due to 9-of-14 shooting from the field and an absurd 16-of-18 from the free throw line. The 24-year-old also dished six assists and grabbed six rebounds. He electrified the Crypto.com Arena and revived the struggling Lakers, who are still clinging to 10th place (final play-in spot) in the Western Conference.

Reaves has been instrumental all season but especially with LeBron James missing time during this playoff push. He has broken out in his sophomore season, averaging 12 points on 50 percent shooting. Teams have surely noticed. LA cannot afford to get in bidding wars, but it's obvious Reaves' hustle and deft first step toward the basket have strongly resonated with Lakers fans.

General manager Rob Pelinka will have a tough decision to make, but that is a Summer problem. The franchise needs the Oklahoma alum to keep raising his value otherwise another year with James and Anthony Davis will be wasted. Reaves is not the hero people expected, but he is the one the city desperately needs in these last 10 games of the regular season.

His agent would certainly appreciate it, too.

Reaves Mania rages on when the Lakers host the Phoenix Suns Wednesday.
