New York Knicks guard Quentin Grimes is reportedly receiving trade interest. The Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks were recently mentioned as possible landing destinations for Grimes, per Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.

“A source said the Mavericks have expressed interest in Grimes. The Hawks, who are positioned to be active before the trade deadline, would be a strong fit if they trade Dejounte Murray. There is no shortage of teams looking for plug-and-play 3-and-D wings,” Bondy wrote.

Grimes, a 6'5 guard, makes sense as a trade target for many teams. He could emerge as a key player for whichever team ends up acquiring him, if a deal comes to fruition.

Knicks guard Quentin Grimes' potential

Grimes could become a starter at some point down the road. At the very least, he can provide depth at the guard position. Currently in his third NBA season, Grimes has averaged 8.7 points per game for his career.

He's also shooting 38.6 percent from beyond the arc on 5.0 three-point attempts per game so far during his time in the NBA. Grimes' best season came in 2022-23, when he started 66 of his 71 games played for the Knicks. Overall, Grimes averaged 11.1 points per outing on 46.8 percent field goal and 38.6 percent three-point shooting.

In 2023-24, Grimes has continued to shoot the ball well from deep, recording a 39 percent three-point shooting mark through 38 games (18 starts). However, he is shooting just 40 percent from the field and is averaging 7.1 points per contest. Additionally, Grimes has seen his minutes per game with the Knicks drop from 29.9 in 2022-23 to 19.8 this season.

He still features intriguing potential. In fact, almost every team around the NBA could make a case for acquiring Grimes. Rebuilding teams could make him apart of their future, while contenders would benefit from his three-point prowess.

The Mavericks and Hawks are currently being linked to Grimes, but don't be surprised if other potential suitors emerge ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
