The Detroit Pistons have “expressed confidence” their center Andre Drummond will be moved before the Feb. 6 trade deadline, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

With less than a month left before the deadline, the Pistons are hoping to move their star and leading rebounder and getting a good package in return. They're unlikely to pay him the money he will command as an unrestricted free agent once he opts out of the last year of his contract.

Drummond is making $27.1 million this season for the Pistons and will make $28.8 million the next if he picks up his player option, something many view as unlikely since he would be at the top of his class for free agents at his position. Yet it's worth noting he has an 8% trade kicker built into his contract, one he would likely be asked to waive in exchange for a better playing situation.

Teams like the Atlanta Hawks have shown deep interest in trading for Drummond, while others like the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Dallas Mavericks remain as other possibilities.

Drummond has a surefire market for his services as far and away the best rebounder in the league, though the winner will put together the best package in exchange. The Pistons will want one, if not two first-round draft picks in exchange, along with some team-building role players that can help Detroit rebuild.

There's little to no interest in frontcourt partner Blake Griffin, who has now undergone an arthroscopy on his injured left knee and is out indefinitely.
