Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks are gearing up for their first-round battle in the Eastern Conference playoffs against the New York Knicks. Unfortunately, they were hit with some bad news as they aim to topple the Knicks and go to the second round.

Not the best news for the Hawks as they have to go to battle with an impressive Knicks squad that has been led by Julius Randle and head coach Tom Thibodeau.

The Hawks, who have been without Cam Reddish since February 21, were hopeful that he might be able to return for their playoff series. However, the 10-14 days timeline would sideline him essentially till the end of the first round, if it even goes seven games.

The former first-round pick out of Duke was labeled as a huge part of the Hawks' success. In just 26 games on the campaign, he averaged 11.2 points with four boards and just over one steal per game. The injury derailed his shot and helping the team to a playoff run, although the firing of Lloyd Pierce and the improved play of John Collins and Clint Capela helped the Hawks reach the playoffs.

Nonetheless, the absence of Reddish could prove big against a tough, gritty Knicks team that finished as the 4th seed in the East. Apart from Reddish, the Hawks are surprisingly healthy heading into the playoffs and if they can find a way to beat New York, their likely next opponent would be the Philadelphia 76ers, the top seed in the conference.
