Atlanta Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce told reporters on Thursday point guard Trae Young will return to the Hawks' lineup Friday night against the Boston Celtics after missing the last two games with a sprained right ankle.

The Hawks have the worst record in the NBA right now. They are just 7-27, although they are coming off a good win against the Orlando Magic sans Young:

“Trae will be fine,” Pierce said, via Ben Ladner of Sports Illustrated. “He worked out with us on Tuesday when we got back, non-contact. We had contact today and he was able to get through everything, so I think he'll be fine.”

Young is averaging 28.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 8.3 assists for the Hawks this season in 31 games. He's shooting 44.4 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from beyond the arc and 84.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Before the season started, Young and the Hawks talked about making the playoffs. However, John Collins' PED suspension really hurt Atlanta and now they find themselves at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.

The Hawks are eight games back of the Magic for the eighth and final playoff spot in the East. It's going to take a lot of work for Atlanta to climb up in the standings.

Getting Young back in the lineup on Friday is the first step.
