Atlanta Hawks veteran Vince Carter and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James shared a moment together on the court following their last battle with one another.

Carter, who is retiring from the NBA after this season ends, says he and James shared their mutual appreciation for each other:

Carter and the Hawks currently have the worst record in the NBA at 6-25. The former high-flyer, though, has been receiving standing ovations at every road arena the Hawks play at. Basketball fans want to pay homage to an NBA legend.

LeBron is a student of the game and knows when to pay his respects to someone. Carter, one of the best dunkers in NBA history, is an eight-time All-Star and was the 1999 Rookie of the Year. It’s amazing he’s still in basketball shape after all these years.

In 25 games this season for the Hawks, Carter is averaging 5.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game and shooting 35.6 percent from the field, 30.2 percent from beyond the arc and 61.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Carter entered the league back in 1998 with the Toronto Raptors. He currently has career averages of 17.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 1,506 games with the Raptors, New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Hawks.
