Celtics point guard Terry Rozier became a fan favorite in Boston during last season's postseason. Filling in for Kyrie Irving, who was sidelined due to an injury, Rozier helped lead the C's all the way to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, where they were defeated by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The fame that Rozier has gained is both substantial and deserved. This level of added attention might change some players, but Scary Terry says his personal success will not alter his devotion to the team:

“I just want to play,” Rozier told The Athletic. “Play and have fun. Put a smile on my face. Terry’s at his best when he’s smiling. Everybody knows that. I like to smile, have fun, stuff like that. I’m always going to play for the name on the front, not the name on the back.”

With Irving returning from injury this season, Rozier knew he would be heading back to a reserve role:

“He's the starter,” Rozier told The Athletic during last season's Finals exit interviews. “He's our starter, our starting point guard. I had a lot of fun leading these guys when I had to step up to start. So, you know, next year it will play itself out.”

Rozier continues to be a key contributor off the bench for Boston, though he has struggled a bit at times. The Shaker Heights, Ohio native has played in 23 games this season (one start), averaging 8.2 points on 37.8 percent shooting from the field (35.4 percent from beyond the arc), 3.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 22.2 minutes per outing.

Rozier and the Celtics will be back in action Thursday night, when they'll welcome the New York Knicks to TD Garden. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. ET with TNT having live broadcast coverage.
