Veteran guard Jeremy Lin saw his 2017-18 season come to an abrupt end in the Brooklyn Nets' season opener on Wednesday after rupturing the patellar tendon in his right knee.

After undergoing successful surgery to repair the injury, Lin looked to be in positive spirit as he was poking fun at his surgical cap in a photo with head coach Kenny Atkinson.

Jeremy Lin is expected to miss the entire season after he suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter of the Nets' season opener against the Indiana Pacers. His immediate reaction went viral after he felt his right knee after hitting the floor where he could be seen muttering the words “I'm done” that was then followed by a look of utter disappointment.

The 29-year-old was expected to play a prominent role in the backcourt alongside offseason addition D'Angelo Russell with the duo leading the offensive charge. Instead, this has shifted a larger offensive burden upon Russell's shoulders to be the primary ball handler and scorer moving forward this season.

Meanwhile, Lin is in the second year of his three-year, $38.3 million deal that includes a $12 million player option for 2018-19 season. Although it's still months away from that decision, this injury could have a heavy influence on his thinking next summer regarding his pending contract situation.
