Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets is no stranger to speaking his mind. In his latest sit down with former Golden State Warriors teammate Draymond Green, KD revealed exactly why his opinion of the media changed drastically.

Durant star admits that he used to have members of the media on a pedestal. But as the Nets star cut his teeth in the NBA game, he came to a realization that the media wasn't what he thought it was.

Via Bleacher Report:

“I felt like the media knew more than me. I almost had them on a pedestal,” admits the Nets star. “They got more history and knowledge of the game, they have more experience than me in this area of the NBA. Once I started getting more experienced I realized: They can never be what I am. Or know what I know. Or understand it the way I understand it.”

It's indeed hard to take criticism from people who will never fully understand what it's like to be in your shoes. As reporters and analysts speculate on Kevin Durant or his Nets, nobody will actually have a first-hand perspective beyond the players themselves. Durant was brutally honest in admitting he was no longer as impressed by the media than he once was.

“Some of the questions, they didn't seem so intelligent anymore. People wanted to praise me more than I liked, or hate me more than I liked. Make a big deal of some much..”

Kevin Durant is not the first Nets superstar to express his disdain for the media and its antics. Kyrie Irving has been embroiled in a whole lot of drama on the matter and continues to remain guarded during interviews, likely for the same reasons that Durant just shared. One thing's for sure, the Nets stars want to let their play do the talking.
