Who could forget about Kyrie Irving's infamous quote a couple of years ago about finally having a teammate he can trust to make clutch shots? This was in 2020 when Kyrie teamed up with Kevin Durant for the Brooklyn Nets. When he came out with that statement, more than a few folks believed that he was also taking a dig at his former teammate in LeBron James.

Irving looked back at that incident in a recent episode of The ETCs with KD podcast, and the Nets superstar himself revealed that LeBron did feel a bit disrespected by his comments. Kyrie made it abundantly clear, however, that he had no intention to insult his former Cavs teammate with his remarks:

“Hey, shout-out to Bron,” Irving said (h/t Jonathan Sherman of Cavaliers Nation). “He felt like I was slighting him, and I would never slight him in a way that would probably make him go and have to respond to things like that, you know what I mean? I respect the hell out of him. We’ve been through our own battles as teammates, as competitors together.”

As Kyrie said, he and LeBron did not always see eye to eye. However, a certain level of respect was always present between them. The Nets All-Star point guard just wants everybody to know that despite how his statement may have been interpreted, he just never meant to disrespect LeBron.
