As part of Tuesday's preseason press conference, Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks wished D'Angelo Russell the best in his future endeavors, then made it clear that he is happy to have Kyrie Irving aboard for the coming season.

Irving, now 27 years of age, joined the Nets this offseason, agreeing to the terms of a four-year, $141 million deal. By most accounts, Kyrie is one of the best ball handlers the league has ever known. In fact, kids all around the globe mimic his impressive crossovers and flashy passing skills. However, it's not clear how he'll perform in this new setting. He'll be playing for his home town, though, so he does have that bit of added incentive to play well.

Irving made 67 appearances with the Celtics last season (all starts), racking up averages of 23.8 points on 48.7 percent shooting from the field (40.1 percent from beyond the arc), 6.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 33.0 minutes per outing.

According to a report from Ian Begley of SNYtv, Irving took an inadvertant ebow during a pickup game on Tuesday morning. At this point, the severity of the injury is not clear. Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson accompanied Irving as he underwent medical examination.

Kyrie wasn't the only marquees player to sign with the Nets this offseason, though. Kevin Durant decided to join the team as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Golden State Warriors, who acquired Russell in the process. However, Durant is expected to miss all of this season as he recovers from an ACL injury.
