Although he may not be a household name, Brooklyn Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie has really made a name for himself as one of the league's most pleasant surprises this season. His play this season recently got him a well-deserved guaranteed contract for the rest of the season and he would like to stay in Brooklyn for as long as possible.

During a radio interview on Thursday with WFAN host Evan Roberts, the 24-year-old guard opened up about his time with the Nets and noted that the organization has done wonders with his development as a basketball player.

“I would love to be here long-term. I’m fully indebted to Brooklyn,” Dinwiddie said. “Honestly, my very first impression of Brooklyn was the culture of development. I thought they were very invested in the guys they chose to be a part of that.”

Dinwiddie, who was thrust into a major role with the Nets this season after knee injuries to Jeremy Lin and D'Angelo Russell, continues to flourish and keep Brooklyn competitive.

“If we weren’t any good, we wouldn’t be in any of these games. There was a time where the Nets got blown out every game. We’re not doing that. Went through a lot of that last year, we were down 20 like every game. A lot of these games we’re losing by three to four points,” Dinwiddie said. “We’re changing, we’re getting better and that’s our focus – but we also want to win while we’re going through this process.”

In 47 games this season for the Nets, Dinwiddie is currently averaging 13.4 points, a team-high 6.4 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game in 28.3 minutes of action per contest. Dinwiddie and the Nets (18-30) will continue their five-game road trip on Friday night when they take on the Milwaukee Bucks at BMO Harris Bradley Center.
