A local mandate in Canada has now put unvaccinated NBA players under threat of criminal charges if quarantine protocols are breached in Toronto. This means players like Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets and Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards will have to strictly follow quarantine protocols when their respective teams visit the Toronto Raptors this season.
According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Canada's Quarantine Act only allows unvaccinated players to leave their hotels for official team activities. If these players end up breaking protocols, they could end up with a fine of up to $750,000 and even spend up to six months in prison.

This is just one of the many things unvaccinated players like Kyrie Irving will have to deal with this upcoming 2021-22 season. Irving, as well as a handful of other players, have been firm on opting out of the COVID-19 vaccine. In Irving's case, the former NBA champ might end up missing more than half the season as he is ineligible for Brooklyn's home games due to the city's vaccination requirements.
Players like Beal have also taken their firm stand with regards to the COVID-19 vaccination. Despite all these rules and updates, some stars around the league are choosing not to get jabbed and would rather miss a game or two.
On the other hand, there are some players who were initially hesitant to get vaxxed who have had a change of heart. Andrew Wiggins of the Golden State Warriors for example, who was in a similar situation as Irving with regards to vaccination requirements in San Francisco, ended up getting jabbed.
