On Saturday night at Spectrum Center, the Charlotte Hornets (29-38) picked up a well-needed 122-115 victory over the Phoenix Suns to keep their slim playoff hopes alive in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Hornets veteran center Dwight Howard, who is playing in his first season with Charlotte, also made history during the win when he passed former Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers star power forward Larry Nance Sr. for No. 18 on the NBA's all-time blocked shots list.

Howard was an absolute beast on the night and had his second game of 30 points in his last three contests played. In 37 minutes of action, Howard led the way with 30 points on 10-of-15 shots made from the field, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots to help Charlotte snap a five-game losing streak.
In a video posted to Twitter by Fox Sports Southeast, Hornets head coach Steve Clifford opened up about the victory during his postgame press conference.

“There were things that we could do better obviously in the fourth quarter, but we played with a lot better energy and we needed to win a game and we won a game. So that's it and that's how I feel,” coach Clifford said.
Hornets veteran small forward Nicolas Batum also had a great game and finished with 29 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists on the night while star point guard Kemba Walker struggled again with just 11 points on 4-of-14 shooting, seven assists, and two rebounds.
Entering Saturday night's game against the Suns, Dwight Howard was averaging 15.9 points on 55.3 percent shooting from the field, 12.1 rebounds, 1.7 blocked shots, and 1.3 assists per game in 66 starts this season with the Hornets.
