Charlotte Hornets forward Marvin Williams blew up on Friday against the Washington Wizards, as he led his team to a tight 112-111 victory against their Eastern Conference rivals.

Following an outstanding performance from the 32-year-old veteran, Hornets head coach James Borrego was singing the praises of Williams, stating that he has been the driving force that has led the team to a late push for the playoffs.

“If there's anybody in that locker room that is pushing this thing and willing us through, it is Marvin,” Hornets coach James Borrego said, via ESPN. “He has great spirit about him, he's got great will about him and he's trying to push this team — and tonight was an example of that.”

Williams is certainly not the best player on the team, but his contributions both on and off the court have been pivotal in Charlotte's recent run.

However, Williams was also able to put the team on his shoulders against the Wizards, as he torched Washington with a season-high 30 points on 10-of-16 shooting. The former second overall pick logged seven three-pointers, seven rebounds, an assist, a steal, and two blocks in what was easily his best game of the season.

With the victory, the Hornets snap a brief two-game losing streak, and are now just one game behind the eighth-seeded Miami Heat. At this point, there is no doubt that the final few spots in the East playoffs picture will be going right down the wire, with Charlotte looking to be heavily involved in the free-for-all.
