The Charlotte Hornets took down the Utah Jazz in a nail-biter, 107-101. It was a back-and-forth game for all 48 minutes, but LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges and co. looked like they were in control pretty much the whole way through.
Charlotte held the lead for a bulk of the game and when they did fall behind, they nipped any mistake in the bud immediately. It was one of their more complete games all season. It was also their first time beating the Jazz since January 12, 2018. So it was a huge game for seeding, but also for their pride.
With that win, the Hornets have won six of their last seven games. They've peaked at the right time and Bridges gave the media the tea on the reason for their recent improvements.
“Ball movement and defense. We noticed when we don't play defense, we'll go on a 6-7 game losing streak. When we do, we're competing in every game,” Bridges shared.
Sounds pretty cut and dry, but it's the truth. Last month, the Hornets' offense and defense were sucked, if we're being honest. The ball movement was subpar and they just couldn't stop anybody on the other end. The month of March has been a whole 180 for them, and it's definitely a positive that Miles Bridges know what needs to be done. They've been able to beat some pretty high profile team like the Jazz and the Dallas Mavericks in their recent span of games, which is pretty impressive.

Coach James Borrego was digging the back-and-forth affair taking place. He had this to say postgame:
“I loved it. It's emotional, but this group was steady tonight. Nobody got rattled, we were poised. This is why we do it. To play meaningful games and to see the growth of the young team is fantastic,” Borrego shared.
Energies were running high in Spectrum season all night long and it was infectious, clearly. The Hornets just need to bottle up this performance and bring it on Sunday. They are heading to New York to face the Brooklyn Nets for an important game.
If the Nets lose to the Miami Heat on Saturday night, the Hornets and Nets will be tied for the eighth seed–thereby making Sunday a make-or-break kind of game. Winner claims the eighth seed and will try to run for dear life to hold on to it.
The Hornets will catch the Nets on the back end of a back-to-back, so they have a huge chance to take advantage of a tired Nets team. Either way, the Hornets are rolling right now and look like they can beat just about anybody in the league. They control their own destiny to some degree right now, which is exactly how they want it. Lets sit back and enjoy the show!
