The Charlotte Hornets are looking to beef up their frontline rotation as they reportedly inquired about the availability of Los Angeles Lakers center Montrezl Harrell. Surprisingly, the defending champs were willing to listen to potential suitors as they are expected to weigh the valuable assets that they might get in return.

Via Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report:

“Charlotte has also called the Lakers about Montrezl Harrell, Los Angeles' bruising center, sources said, and the reigning champions appear willing to entertain offers.”

Harrell has been a force for the Lakers this season, especially after coming off a 2019-20 campaign where he was hailed as the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year. Though he landed on a more talented Lakers squad, the 27-year-old forward still managed to stand out, especially after Anthony Davis went down with a calf injury back in mid-February.

He is currently averaging 14.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks through 43 games played this season. The Lakers' willingness to listen to trade offers turned out to be a surprise, considering how well Harrell has been playing amid the extended absence of Davis.

With LeBron James also expected to be out for several weeks, the Lakers are expected to hold onto Harrell as they try to keep themselves afloat until their veteran leader returns on the floor.

More than anything, the Lakers know that Montrezl Harrell will be a valuable contributor for them come the postseason. For now, they would definitely need all the talent that they can keep on their roster in order to not slip further down the Western Conference standings which makes a trade highly unlikely to happen.
