The Chicago Bulls loved what they saw from Coby White in Las Vegas during Summer League play.

White, who was drafted with the seventh overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, is going to challenge Kris Dunn for the Bulls' starting point guard spot, although Dunn is widely expected to be the opening day starter.

Chicago vice president of basketball operations John Paxson said he wants someone to push Dunn in practice, and White fits that bill.

“Love him. Think he’s competitive at the position with fantastic size,” a Bulls executive told Keith Smith of Real GM. “He’ll be a better shooter, because he’ll work at it. He’s going to have to work for his spot, because we’ve got other point guards in front of him that he’ll need to pass, but that’s good for him.”

In five games in Vegas, Coby White put up 15.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.8 assists while shooting 33.7 percent from the field. Like the Bulls exec says, White is going to put in the work to become a better shooter because he has no choice. White shot just 10 percent from beyond the arc at Summer League.

White does most of his damage at the rim and in transition. He's a blur in the open court and impossible to stay in front of. The Bulls are anxious and excited to see what White can do in his rookie season.
