Before he suffered multiple injuries, Derrick Rose was one of the best players in the NBA. Proof of this was his MVP season back in 2011, where he became the youngest winner of the highest individual award the league has to offer. He went up against other elite players at that time and impressed them all with his performances on the court.
One of them was his former teammate with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dwyane Wade. He recently talked about competing against the younger Rose and called him “unreal,” as he gave a reply on Twitter.

Wade’s comment only goes to show how good Rose before his career became injury-plagued. It can be recalled that he had some unforgettable games versus Rose and the Chicago Bulls during their “Big 3” era with the Miami Heat, along with LeBron James and Chris Bosh. The 29-year-old Memphis product almost single-handedly led the Bulls in upsetting the heavily favored South Beach team with his unstoppable drives to the basket and timely shots from the perimeter. During his MVP run, Rose averaged highly impressive numbers of 25.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 7.9 assists in 35.3 minutes per game and was a force on both ends of the floor.
He is currently a free agent as he was waived by the Utah Jazz only three days after getting traded to by the Cavs, and is looking for his next opportunity to prove that he can still be a solid contributor for whichever team decides to bring him to their fold. Rose may not be the same player that he was in his earlier days in the NBA, but his experience and veteran savvy could come in handy, especially for a contender, and it will be very interesting to see how things will pan out for him this season.
