At this point, there is so much young talent on the Chicago Bulls roster. The team possesses one of the most promising young cores in the league today, and the recent addition of seventh overall pick Coby White only makes the future even brighter for the Bulls.

However, for Chicago combo guard Zach LaVine, he has already singled out the one youngster he is very much excited about this coming season. According to the 24-year-old, he is definitely looking forward to what incoming sophomore big man Wendell Carter Jr. has in store for all of us in the 2019-20 NBA season.

“Wendell Carter, because he wasn’t able to get his full rookie year up under him,” LaVine says, via Gerald Bourget of Fansided. “He was starting to get into a groove when he got injured man, that’s one of the worst things in all of sports. It’s upsetting, but he’s been in the gym working all year. He has great defensive intangibles as a rookie, especially for a big guy as a rookie. I feel like it’s always tougher for them, but he’s shown different little flashes to where he’s seemed above his experience level, so I’m really excited for him.”

We see no lies here, and much like how LaVine pointed out, Carter was indeed showing a lot of promise before his rookie campaign was cut short by injury. In 44 games played last season, the 6-foot-10 center averaged 10.3 points (on 48.5 percent shooting), 7.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.3 blocks in 25.2 minutes per contest.

Now with one season under his belt and a seemingly healthier disposition, Carter does have the potential to come out with an eye-opening breakthrough year in his sophomore campaign.
