After their season ended earlier than they wanted, the Chicago Bulls gained a head start in planning ahead and thinking of ways on how to improve in the future. One of the steps they are doing is having regular talks with the players and letting them know of their plans moving forward. They had one recently with Dwyane Wade, who joined them last summer after spending his first 13 seasons in the league with the Miami Heat.

Despite all the drama that occurred with the team throughout the season, their meeting with Wade apparently turned out a positive one, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune. A lot of things were discussed by both parties, including the future of Jimmy Butler with the team.

“The meeting, which was described as positive and came on the heels of a similar meeting between management and [Jimmy] Butler earlier last week, covered a wide variety of topics, including the possibilities for next season's team, one source said.”

It’s no secret that part of the reason why the 35-year-old agreed to play for his hometown team is his good relationship with Butler, who also had a hand in recruiting him. The Bulls have made it known that they have no intention to trade the All-Star swingman as he is indeed part of their plan to become a contender in the immediate future.

With Wade having a player option for next season, the Bulls are expecting him to opt in for the final year of his contract. Their meeting could boost their chances of keeping him and may be one of the keys to having an intact lineup.

Wade may not be the same player that he was early in his career, but he continues to be a solid contributor, while serving as the veteran locker room leader which every team needs. It remains to be seen if he will decide to don the Bulls jersey next year, but with the size of his deal and the positive meeting he had with the team, all signs are pointing to him continuing to stay close to home.
