On Wednesday evening, the Dallas Mavericks picked up a big home win over the Miami Heat to push their winning streak to three straight games. Unfortunately, the Mavericks got a tough injury update when big man Daniel Gafford exited the Heat game due to an ankle injury and was unable to return.
Now, the team has announced the latest update ahead of Friday's road clash against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Gafford is officially listed as questionable due to right ankle injury management, per Joey Mistretta of ClutchPoints on X, formerly Twitter. Meanwhile, power forward PJ Washington is also questionable due to a right ankle sprain.
Overall, it's been a tough season for the Mavericks thus far, but things may be starting to turn around now that Anthony Davis is back in the lineup. As previously mentioned, the Mavericks have now won three straight games, including an especially impressive victory on the road against the Denver Nuggets, and the team is now 8-15 on the young 2025-26 season.
Cooper Flagg is starting to look more and more like the generational prospect Mavericks fans hoped they were drafting at number one overall, and the team has also seen some nice play out of unsung players like undrafted rookie Ryan Hembhard.
If Kyrie Irving is able to return at some point in the near future, it's not off the table that Dallas could make a run at the playoffs.
The Mavericks will next take the floor on Friday on the road against the Thunder at 9:30 pm ET.
