Mark Cuban's last couple of days have been showered in shame and disgrace after a Sports Illustrated investigative report unmasked the corrosive culture in the organization with a closetful of sexual harassment claims through a near two-decade period.

While the outstanding culprit was former CEO Terdema Ussery, who resigned his post three years ago, there are still remnants of his misogynistic and lewd behavior in the workplace — a dealbreaker for the league, who acted swiftly on the matter.

Commissioner Adam Silver will have access to every bit of information from the Mavs' investigation, but if what he finds is deceit from Cuban's part, he could call for a termination of his ownership, according to Jeff Zillgitt of USA TODAY Sports.

“Depending on what the independent investigation reveals, Silver has punitive options at his disposal, per the NBA’s constitution and bylaws. He can levy suspensions and fines up to $2.5 million. Silver also can take steps to terminate Cuban’s ownership of the Mavericks. That action would require three-fourths vote from the owners and would be considered a nuclear option.”

Silver had a huge decision to make upon his first year in the league, dealing with the Donald Sterling case — then the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Just like in the Sterling case, Silver would need for 23 of the 30 owners to vote yes to Cuban's termination proposal if it were to take place — something that could prove tough with his popularity among owners for his progressive stance in the league and camaraderie with others.
