The Dallas Mavericks are waiving 6-foot-3 shooting guard Daryl Macon, per Sam Amico of Amico Hoops. Waiving the 23-year-old Macon will clear a two-way contract spot available for another player.

Macon appeared in eight games for the Mavericks during the 2018-19 NBA season and played 41 games with G League affiliate Texas Legends. In the G League, Macon averaged 19.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game, shooting 42.2% from the field, 33.0% from behind the 3-point arc, and 83.8% from the free throw line.

Macon declared for the 2018 draft after two years at the University of Arkansas. After going undrafted, the Razorback signed a two-way deal with Dallas in July following a Summer League debut with the Miami Heat. Macon had also participated in the 2019 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the Mavs team.

Macon scored 29 points in 90 minutes played with the big-league Mavs across eight scattered games during his two-way tenure.

Dallas previously signed 6-foot-6 guard Antonius Cleveland to a two-way contract. Cleveland briefly played for the Mavs while contracted as a two-way player before being waived and picked up by the Atlanta Hawks. Cleveland attended Southeast Missouri State University before going undrafted in 2017.

The two-way contract stipulates players cannot spend more than 45 days with the NBA organization; thus, players like Cleveland or previously Macon often find the majority of their minutes in the G League unless the team is in dire need of another call-up due to injury or an impressive performance.
