Since entering the league, Dennis Smith Jr. has started to make a name for himself as a relentless rim attacker and someone who is not afraid to drive to the basket whenever he gets a chance to. However, it does not come without a cost as he often receives some scratches that leave a mark on his body, including his face.
The former NC State star mentioned, via Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com, that he hopes he will eventually get more foul calls when he drives in the future. He then added that it will make his efforts worthwhile especially with his girl not being a fan of his face scratches.

He has also been proving that all the eight other teams that passed up on him during the draft should’ve taken him instead and that he will be a star in the league someday.
If he continues to play the same way or even surpass the level he is in as the season progresses, he could eventually get more calls in his favor. Smith will also let the referees be more familiar with his style of play which could result to them watching his defenders closer for any hits he may get whenever he drives hard to the basket.
