Free agent point guard Devin Harris has agreed to sign a one-year deal with the Dallas Mavericks for the veteran's minimum, according to Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports.
The Mavs were recently on the lookout for an additional point guard after Yogi Ferrell walked back his previous agreement of a two-year, $5.3 million deal, taking a shade under an extra million for the same length of deal with the Sacramento Kings shortly after.
Harris recently told Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News that he would love to end his career with the Mavericks, considering Dallas his home.
Article Continues BelowThe 6-foot-3 guard was initially drafted by the Washington Wizards, but they shortly traded his draft rights along with Christian Laettner and Jerry Stackhouse to the Mavericks for Antawn Jamison and cash considerations in 2004.
Harris has played nine of his 14 NBA seasons with the Mavericks, recently seeing a 27-game stint with the Denver Nuggets that saw him average 8.2 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.6 rebounds per game.
The Wisconsin product will likely play only spare minutes under J.J. Barea as the third string at point guard, but could also see some time at shooting guard, as he has proven versatile enough to play both spots during the latter end of his NBA career.
