Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is one of the brightest young stars in the league. The 22-year-old Slovenian wing dropped 22 points on Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs, and in doing so, passed Kendrick Perkins on the all-time scoring list.

Perkins has long been a vocal skeptic of Doncic, so Mavs Moneyball on Twitter couldn’t help but come with the receipts of some of Perkins’s most recent criticisms of Doncic – while also showcasing the disparity between the two in terms of scoring acumen:

As you can see, Doncic was able to amass his 4,223 career points in only 166 games, while Perkins played 782 with four different teams, though his most memorable stints were with the Boston Celtics from 2003 to 2010 and then with the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2010 to 2015.

During Perkins’s Celtics tenure, he did manage to win a ring alongside the Big 3 of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen – something Doncic cannot boast so far in his young career.

Still though, Doncic has his entire career ahead of him, and the sky is seemingly the limit for the gifted wing. After being taken No. 3 overall in the 2018 NBA Draft, he won Rookie of the Year that season with relative ease and has now started in two straight All-Star teams.

The Mavs star will likely be a fixture on that team going forward as well as on All-NBA teams, so the future is bright for the young gun.

Perkins, on the other hand, is an ESPN talking head who delivers “spicy” (aka fairly questionable) takes with regularity. It seems to be clear who’s in the ascendancy.
