Dallas Mavericks forward Kristaps Porzingis has been accused of rape by his former neighbor back in Manhattan, New York. Porzingis was still a member of the New York Knicks when the alleged rape incident happened. As investigations are currently underway, the National Basketball Players Association has shown support for the Latvian star.
Players Association with statement supporting Kristaps Porzingis: "We have been aware of these allegations for some time, have evaluated the accuser's claims and, based what is presently before us, stand with Kristaps.'' From Michele Roberts.

The accuser claims that she was raped by Porzingis last February 20, 2018, hours after the 7-foot-3 forward suffered a knee injury that has sidelined him ever since. She then told the police that she was promised hush money worth $68,000 which she waited for over a year but never received. This led to her decision to officially file a complaint against Porzingis. The New York Police Department believes that the alleged victim's statements are credible, but are still conducting a thorough investigation to find out the true story.

Although Mavs owner Mark Cuban was advised by the NYPD to refrain from giving public statements regarding the matter, there is optimism within the organization that Porzingis will be proven innocent.
Porzingis is expected to suit up for the Mavs next season, teaming up with Luka Doncic, the front-runner to win this season's Rookie of the Year award.
Further updates regarding the ongoing investigations are expected to come out within the next couple of weeks.
