The Dallas Mavericks will be shorthanded during the first week of the new season, as Seth Curry is still recovering from a stressed left tibia. It's still unclear when he can return, but he will be evaluated weekly, as confirmed by head coach Rick Carlisle, via Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com.

The Duke product played his first season with the Mavs last year, and appeared in 70 games for the team. He emerged as their starting shooting guard towards the end of the campaign, and averaged 12.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 steals in 29.0 minutes per game.

After going undrafted back in 2013, Seth Curry bounced around the league before finding a home with the Mavs, and is consistently receiving an ample amount of playing time. He is once again slated to play a major role with the team, as he has the ability to play both guard positions. His efficient outside sniping also plays to his advantage, as he is a career 43.2 percent shooter from beyond the arc.

Yogi Ferrell is expected to take his spot in the starting lineup while he is out.
