Denver Nuggets General Manager Tim Connelley has just confirmed news that his team is looking at the possibility of trading their 14th pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

This comes as no surprise as the Nuggets have consistently been one of the more active teams during the build up to draft day over the past few years. Speaking to Gina Mizell of the Denver Post, Connelley claimed that things may be no different this year.

“We’re always looking (at possible trades),” said Connelley. “Certainly, with the financials of the NBA, you’ve got to be creative to keep the guys you want … there will be some pretty good opportunities, hopefully, in the next couple weeks, and we’ll try to exploit those opportunities.”

In recent history, Connelley and the Nuggets have been hit or miss in their dealings. Just last year, Denver traded Rookie of the Year front-runner Donovan Mitchell to the Utah Jazz after drafting him 13th overall. In return, the Nuggets got Trey Lyles and Tyler Lydon.

Four years previously, they were in a similar predicament when they traded Rudy Gobert also to the Jazz for practically nothing.

In between those years, Denver were able to pick up the likes of Nikola Jokic (as a 41st overall pick), Jusuf Nurkic, Garry Harris, and Jamay Murray in the draft, so they have had their good days. The again, they used their seventh overall pick in the 2015 Draft on Emmanuael Mudiay, so there is also that.

With such a deep pool in this year's draft class, along with one of the most packed free agent markets in recent history, there will definitely be a lot of action once the free agency window opens in July 1. Given Connelley's statements, we can expect the Nuggets to be one of the teams that will take part in the festivities.
