Jamal Murray officially signed his five-year contract extension with the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.
Murray received a five-year, $195.65 million maximum contract from the Nuggets. The sharpshooter says he “can’t wait to shoot more arrows” for the fans in Denver.
“I want to thank the man above for showing my family and I how life works in a full circle,” Murray said in a statement, via Nuggets.com. “I also want to thank the Nuggets organization for believing in a kid from a small unheard-of town in Canada, and finally to Nuggets fans, I can’t wait to shoot more arrows for you all.”
This past season for Denver, Jamal Murray averaged 18.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists while shooting 43.7 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from beyond the arc and 84.8 percent from the free-throw line. The 22-year-old recorded four double-doubles.
The Nuggets made the playoffs in 2018-19 for the first time since 2013. Denver lost to the Portland Trail Blazers in the second round in seven games. Murray put up 21.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists in the postseason, showing he's not scared of the bright lights.
Denver's core is headlined by Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Paul Millsap, Gary Harris and youngster Michael Porter Jr., who will make his NBA debut in 2019-20 after missing his entire rookie season recovering from back surgery.
The future in Denver is very bright.
