There was plenty to dissect from the annihilation Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic wreaked on the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. Jokic hung a career-high 41 points on the Nets to go with 12 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks, doing so in just 31 minutes.
Jokic toyed with the Nets, who had no solution to stop the Serbian mammoth.
Nuggets head coach Mike Malone had fun watching his center dominate Brooklyn, but he probably liked most the way Jokic shot the ball from long range. Jokic went 4-of-9 from the three-point region. Jokic has been a lot better from deep this season than he was last year, which Malone partly attributes to the high arc of his shots, even comparing its trajectory to that of ex-NFL punter and Football Hall of Famer Ray Guy’s punts, according to Harrison Wind of BSN Denver.

Jokic is taking more shots from beyond the arc than ever before this season but has managed to improve his accuracy, as noted by Wind. So far this season, Jokic is connecting on 43.9 percent of his deep balls, but opponents can’t just close out on him on defense because the 6-foot-10 unicorn is also a gifted passer and can also put the ball on the floor.
Jokic’s three-point percentage could soon regress but he’s already made it clear that he can’t be dared by opponents to shoot.
