When Nikola Jokic was drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 2014, the NBA and the media were clearly not thinking much about him. After all, during his selection at no. 41, ESPN decided to play a Taco Bell commercial instead of capturing what turned out to be a historic moment.
Fast forward to seven years later and Jokic has won the NBA MVP, becoming the lowest draft pick ever to win the highest individual honor in the league.
With this latest feat, fans can't help but share Jokic's hilarious draft moment with the Nuggets. The Taco Bell commercial which was played during his selection instantly went viral, as supporters and basketball junkies alike poke fun at the decision.

Should we say Nikola Jokic took that disrespect personally? Well, we doubt it since the Nuggets center doesn't seem to care about that stuff.
However, it certainly makes for a fun story on how a relatively unknown player at the time become a superstar in the NBA and even become its best player.
It is also a well-deserved recognition for the Serbian, who played in all 72 games during the 2020-21 regular season and averaged a near triple-double of 26.4 points, 10.8 rebounds and 8.3 assists. Despite the absence of his star partner in Jamal Murray, the Joker was still able to lead the Nuggets to the third seed in the ultra-tough Western Conference.
Now that he is an MVP, Taco Bell should make up for him for that commercial, and we have an idea how they can do it: get him for an ad! That would be perfect, right?
