Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic is not going anywhere. At least that is the expectation of the Serbian big man and his agent, Misko Raznatovic, in the 2022 NBA Free Agency.
Jokic is eligible for a supermax extension this offseason, and in a recent interview with the URBONUS podcast crew, Raznatovic shared that they are hoping to sign the deal with the Nuggets in the summer.
“According to our expectations, it should be signed this summer. The extension of the maximum amount, what he obviously deserved,” Jokic's agent said, via BasketNews.
Just how much are we talking about here? Well, it could very well be worth over $240 million. Nikola Jokic is eligible for the massive extension after winning the 2020-21 NBA MVP award and getting All-NBA honors (First Team).

If Nikola Jokic earns All-NBA in 2020-21, the center will be super max extension eligible. The contract for five-years and 35% of the 2023-24 of the salary can be signed in the 2022 offseason.

If and when he does sign he supermax, it would make him the highest paid player in the NBA. It would be the biggest contract in the history of the NBA, surpassing the $228 million deal Giannis Antetokounmpo signed in 2020 with the Milwaukee Bucks.
As Raznatovic said, though, the Nuggets star certainly deserves that kind of money. This season alone, he is having another MVP-caliber year as he carries the Nuggets without any star teammate. With Jamal Murray and Michael Porter injured and sidelined, Jokic has Denver competing for a playoff spot.
It's a no-brainer for Denver to keep their best player in franchise history happy, and even if that means breaking the bank, they have to do it.
