The Detroit Pistons finished what would've otherwise been a breakout 2016-17 season with a 37-45 record and missed the playoffs for the seventh time in eight years.

Andre Drummond, Detroit's All-Star center, had his worst season in the NBA since his rookie campaign. The decline in Drummond's performance can somehow be attributed to the absence of point guard Reggie Jackson, who missed 30 games as he dealt with knee and thumb injuries. Things would've probably panned out differently for the Pistons had Jackson not missed significant time, and Drummond couldn't agree more with that sentiment.

The Detroit News' Rod Beard recently sent a tweet regarding the 24-year-old big man's take on his chemistry with Jackson, likening their tandem to a famous superhero duo:

With a healthy roster entering this upcoming season, the Pistons will look to their version of the Caped Crusader and the Boy Wonder to take them back to the postseason. There's no question that Drummond and Jackson are the two best players in Detroit's starting five, and given the results from last season, the team would be lost in carnage with either of them out of action.

Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson are the heroes that the Motor City deserves and needs right now, with both of them continuing to fight the good fight against the crime of mediocrity in the Eastern Conference.
