If you're arguably the best shooter of your generation, you would think that you have seen it all, right? Well, it appears that Golden State Warriors spitfire guard Stephen Curry has been amazed by a 15-year old prospect in the women's division of his camp. So, what was this prospect's specialty at hand? Yes, you guessed it right. Shooting.
Every year, Curry successfully holds his SC30 Select Camp during the offseason. After four years of consecutive championship runs in the NBA, the league's deadliest shooter does not have time to rest this summer as he continues to participate in golf tournaments and holds basketball camps that he has been always hands-on of.
For the first time in the history of the select camp, top young women prospects were invited this year and one hooper stood out from the pack.
LaChina Robinson, an analyst for the ESPN, tweeted out a story of how the 15-year old Azzi Fudd made waves in the camp:
“For the 1st time, top girls basketball players were invited to
#SC30SelectCamp & what happens? Azzi Fudd wins the 3pt shooting contest,@StephenCurry30’s specialty!@warriors assistant Bruce Fraser had already said “she may be the best shooter in our camp”#BasketballisBasketball“
Bruce Fraser has made his presence known in the basketball world by being one of the constant shooting assistants and trainers of the Warriors as seen in video footages during practice and pre-game shooting. So if he said that Fudd could be the best shooter in the camp, he's not exaggerating at all.
Article Continues BelowIt's not every day that we hear of celebrated young women prospects in the basketball. But Fudd is an exception. Her performance in the camp is not the first time that Fudd's name has been thrown in the spotlight. USA TODAY has initially interviewed Washington D.C.'s St. John's coach, Jonathan Scribner, about how exceptional his player is.
Tim Whelan Jr. of USA TODAY High School Sports quoted Scribner as saying:
“It’s remarkable how consistent and efficient she is every night, every game, on both ends of the court. You’ll look at the score sheet and say, ‘Wait, she had 28? It felt like she had 12.’”
Oh, and not to mention that this happened during Fudd's freshman year. Indeed, how she amazed two-time MVP Stephen Curry, is no fluke and how she did it is no coincidence at all. Azzi Fudd. Remember that name for years to come.
