Golden State Warriors wing Andre Iguodala scored eight points during Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night, but none were bigger than the 3-pointer he drained with 5.9 seconds remaining to put the Warriors up by five over the Toronto Raptors and knot the series up at one game apiece.
After the game, Iguodala said he is playing to protect the legacy of Stephen Curry, saying he has never seen such a good person receive so much backlash from his peers, mentioning that other players around the league are jealous of him:

Iguodala also added eight rebounds and six assists in the Warriors' 109-104 victory.

Iguodala is right in that Curry has received a rather inordinate amount of criticism over the last several years, as many have pointed out that the two-time regular-season MVP has never won a Finals MVP in spite of the Dubs winning three titles since 2015.
As a matter of fact, Andre Iguodala himself captured the Finals MVP award back in 2015, and in 2017 and 2018, Kevin Durant took home MVP honors.
With Durant currently sidelined and with Curry playing some of his best basketball of the year (aside from his so-so Game 2), Curry certainly has a large chance of winning his first Finals MVP this season if Golden State can find a way to beat the Raptors.
Game 3 will take place at Oracle Arena on Wednesday night.
