Kevin Durant may no longer be a member of the Golden State Warriors, but his impact on the Warriors will be forever remembered, and Dubs owner Joe Lacob is immortalizing Durant by announcing that no Golden State player will ever wear the No. 35 again in a statement:
“As long as I am co-chairman of this team, no player will ever wear #35 for the Warriors again,” Lacob said, per Warriors PR.
Lacob also lauded Durant for his contributions both on and off the court:
“Three years ago, we were thrilled with the arrival of Kevin Durant, a transformative NBA player and one of the best to ever play the game,” said Lacob. “He provided our fans and franchise with numerous highlights during his stay here—two NBA championships, two NBA Finals MVPs, three triples to the finals and unparalleled efficiency—and carried himself with class and dignity both on and off the court.”

Durant originally signed with the Warriors during the summer of 2016 and went on to lead the Dubs to back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018, taking home Finals MVP honors both times.
Then, this season, Durant suffered a calf strain during the Warriors' second-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets and proceeded to miss the series-deciding Game 6. He was then sidelined during Golden State's four-game sweep of the Portland Trail Blazers during the Western Conference Finals and missed the first four games of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors.
With the Warriors trailing the Raptors 3-1, Durant returned in Game 5, but ended up tearing his Achilles during the second quarter.
The 30-year-old then agreed to sign with the Brooklyn Nets at the start of free agency on Sunday.
