Golden State Warriors team owner Joe Lacob has given Draymond Green the highest form of compliment by stating that he wants the three-time All-Star to see out his career with the Dubs:
“He’s Draymond Green,” Lacob said, via Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic. “I wasn’t worried. I want Draymond Green to be here forever. He’s as Warrior as they come.”
Green was in a bit of a slump in the middle of this season, going 16-for-61 from distance in December and January while also not playing his typically elite defense. With the Warriors also struggling at that time, Green was seen as the easy scapegoat, and people began pointing their fingers at him.
This was not the case for Lacob, though, who kept his faith in the 6-foot-7 forward. He knew that Green is a proven champion, and that he was good enough (and tough enough) to ride out the storm and reemerge as the player he truly he is.

True enough, Green did get out of his slump and has now become a pivotal piece for the Warriors yet again in their quest for the elusive three-peat. In eight playoff games thus far, the former Defensive Player of the Year winner has averaged 12.6 points (on 51.8 percent shooting), 8.5 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.5 blocks in 36.5 minutes of play.
Lacob's comment here might also pertain to the team's desire to sign Green to an extension in the summer. Next season, the 28-year-old will be entering the final year of his current deal, and unless he agrees to re-sign with the Dubs, he will become an unrestricted free agent by the end of the 2019-20 season.
Lacob just said that he wants him for the long haul, so Green might be looking at a hefty payday with the Warriors pretty soon.
