The Golden State Warriors re-signed 23-year-old center Kevon Looney this past offseason to a three-year, $15 million contract in the hopes the fifth-year veteran big man could provide stability in the frontcourt amid the large turnover for the franchise.
Unfortunately, the 6-foot-9 Looney has yet to appear in the Dubs' preseason, missing all four games with a tweaked hamstring he sustained on the second day of the team's training camp.
According to ESPN's Nick Friedell, however, Golden State plans to reinstall Looney back into the lineup for their regular season debut against the Los Angeles Clippers.
“[Marquese Chriss] will get a chance to contribute as Kevon Looney (hamstring) and Willie Cauley-Stein (foot) continue rehabbing. Looney is expected back for next Thursday's season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers, but Cauley-Stein will remain out for at least a couple more weeks. “

The Warriors reportedly waived small forward Alfonzo McKinnie on Friday, clearing the way for fourth-year power forward Marquese Chriss to earn a roster spot.
While Looney missed the Warriors' first four preseason games — including three losses to the Los Angeles Lakers — it will not matter because he is “expected back” for next Thursday's first official game of the season, against Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Lakers, after beating the Warriors' collective butts, play the Clippers on the NBA's opening night in primetime. Then two days later, the Clippers will travel to San Francisco for the first regular-season game at the Chase Center against the new-look Dubs.
