Miami Heat veteran superstar Dwyane Wade had an emotional game against the Philadelphia 76ers, something that may be trivial to some but it became a rallying point for South Florida, nonetheless. After another school shooting incident, this time in the state, it was refreshing to celebrate some victories for once.

On Tuesday, Wade scored the game-winning basket in a 102-101 win. Later in an interview, Wade thought about the movie “Angels in the Outfield.”

“As I kind of tweeted, it was like we was playing with angels in the outfield,” Wade said. “It really felt like it was special. Even J.J. Redick’s shot missed. I felt like he just moved it out of the way. That's overall. UM, Panthers, we all were playing with angels in the outfield. I definitely felt my shots are being guided.”

Wade played the game with Joaquin Oliver’s name written on his shoes. Oliver is a 17-year-old senior student who was one of the 17 victims that were killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland on Valentine’s Day.

The Heat star added that the inspiration came from the Parkland shooting incident and also a loss that he suffered last month.

“I lost agent a month ago, was very tough on me and all the things that are going on in South Florida,” Wade said. “Last night was a special night for this city. Something to smile about, something to be relieved about in that moment, but it doesn't change what we're dealing with.”

Adding to the supernatural events lately, the University of Miami men’s basketball team won on a last-second shot by Ja'Quan Newton who nailed a 3-point shot at the buzzer against North Carolina, one of the nation’s best college teams. The Florida Panthers also won a recent game on a goal over Toronto 3-2 in overtime.

Indeed, angels were looking after the Florida teams.
