It is hard to believe it but veteran NBA point guard Chris Paul is currently a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder. While it once appeared as though the veteran point guard would end his professional career as a member of the Houston Rockets, Paul was then traded to the Thunder this past offseason in a deal that was headlined by fellow point guard Russell Westbrook.

With the Thunder visiting Houston on Monday evening — which marks the first time that these two teams will meet this season — Paul received a tribute video at the Toyota Center to some appreciation for his time spent with the Rockets.

The 34-year-old Paul notably spent the last two seasons as a member of the Rockets while immediately becoming a key piece of the puzzle in Houston upon being acquired from the aforementioned Clippers. Playing alongside fellow All-Star guard James Harden, Paul is now nearing the end of his NBA tenure with his replacement in Westbrook in the midst of his prime.

“It's a weapons race in the NBA and you're either in the weapons race or on the sidelines,” Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said at the time of the trade, via NBA.com. “We felt like with James Harden in his prime and Chris Paul in his prime this gives us a real shot to chase the juggernaut teams that are out there. This puts us right there with them.”

Paul is currently averaging 12.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game for the Thunder this season.
