Malcolm Brogdon had to make a quick pivot early in his career, as the Milwaukee Bucks quickly found themselves unable to keep him for the long term and executed a sign-and-trade to send him to the Indiana Pacers. While the 50-40-90 star does have fond memories of his former teammates, he has no interest in looking back, rather choosing to look forward to what awaits him and his new teammates.
“I’m happy for whatever success those guys have, but I’m not a guy that looks back and wishes or any of that,” Brogdon told Eric Nehm of The Athletic this week. “I’m happy to be with my new team. I have great teammates. I’m in a better situation for me.”
“I was happy, honestly,” Brogdon said about finding out about the sign-and-trade to Indiana. “It’s a great move for me. It’s a great spot for me. Milwaukee served me best while I was there, but it was time for me to move on.”
Brogdon was buried as a third option behind Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton, sometimes even the forgotten man of their equation when acting as a facilitator.
Since coming to Indiana, Brogdon has enjoyed career-highs across the board, averaging 20.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game. Despite struggling to find his touch from beyond the arc, the fourth-year cog has been nothing short of automatic at the foul line, burying his free-throws at a 98% clip while attempting nearly five per game.
Brogdon is bound to unlock much more to his game besides some incredible efficiency, after becoming the youngest player to shoot 50% from the field, 40% from deep, and 90% from the line last season at a ripe 26 years old.
